 Final Project Movie Genre

 

For our final project that will have our group create around 2 minutes of the
opening of a film, we had decided that the genre of the film is going to be horror.
We chose this for a couple of reasons. Primarily, horror movies have a simple
premise, to scare the audience. This can be done in a very convoluted way that
involves a lot of planning, or it can be done relatively simply through
jumpscares and bodily horror, although the latter will most likely not be in our
film opening.


Also, I felt that for a very amateurish film, shooting a horror sequence will prove
to be much less difficult than it would a sci-fi or action film, which would require
a lot of practical effects or CGI. My group decided it pretty unanimously as we all thought that a horror movie would be a good way to implement our ideas as well as our skills that we have picked up along the way during the class. The tension
and suspense needed for a horror film can be created fairly easily through sound effects and misdirection, or even with things like scary images.
