Editing Post 1
In this post, I will describe the editing process that we have gone through for our first round of filming. We are discussing still what kind of effects, transitions, and sounds that we will be incorporating in our final project.
For the video effects that will be used, we won't really be adding any special effects or filters over our video. We want our movie to have the original effect that the film produces without anything to alter it.
What we are adding are some transitions to make the the film have sudden cuts that add to the level of mystery that it produces. We will be adding multiple fades to black and hard cuts to black. The suddenness of the transitions will have the audience wondering what exactly is going on and how it all pieces together.
A problem that we have run into while editing is how to piece all of the clips together cohesively. What we are trying to do in order to make the film run smoothly is to add the transitions between the shots. We are choosing the fade-to-blacks and hard cuts to black to merge the different shots together. I don't believe transitions like simple fades or actions matches will work well in our film since we want to maintain a level of seriousness and mystery that I feel that these transitions will take away from.
Another problem that we are currently trying to solve is to shave down the runtime of the film in order to meet the time restraints. We need to make the film less than 2 minutes and, slowly but surely, we are cutting off a couple seconds at a time in order to meet the time requirement but also have enough footage in each shot so that the audience understands what is going on.
