Lighting Use in our film

 In this post, I will be detailing the kind of lighting that we had used for our film.

    For the majority of the film, the lighting that we used was low-key lighting. Since our film is a sort of mystery movie, we wanted the intentions of our characters to be hidden by the light, especially the intentions of the secondary character that stalks the main character. The first couple of scenes use a lot of lowkey lighting; scenes such as the very first scene with the main character, the driving scene, and the last scene when both characters are in the house. I feel that low-key lighting is very essential when making a mystery movie because you really want to mask the reasons and intentions of characters and scenes so that it doesn't appear blatantly obvious to watchers.

    Even though we mainly use low-key for most of the film, there are instances in our film where we use much brighter lighting. In these scenes, primarily the last few scenes, there is far more light when compared to the rest of the film because right at the end, we want to audience to understand the feelings and emotions that the characters have. Having much more lighting will highlight the atmosphere of the room far better when the characters are acting than having a shroud of darkness conceal what they are feeling.
